I bought mower 16 yes ago was excellent. Recent replacement new make they are pushing called Stiga It's absolute junk. Cheap plastic height adjustment that just does not work. Mower deck slips out and goes to lowest setting randomly. Handle adjuster also cheap plastic that after 2nd use has degraded such that handle wobbles. Avoid like the plague, will be returning this tomorrow.

I've had my lawn mower maintained by Stuart J Daws for a few years now, and I've always had great service. I've recently been looking to replace it, and they've been very helpful in providing advice on the alternative makes and models. I highly recommend them.

Friendly and helpful outdoor machinery shop. Knowledgeable staff and large selection of mowers, both ride on and hand operated.together with chainsaws and brush cutters.

I have purchased all my garden equipment for Daws since moving to the area. I recently had the mower I purchased from them serviced (no extra parts) and the cost was shocking, I feel I have been taken advantage of. I will not be going back.

I purchased a Mountfield Princess lawnmower from their showroom in Chilham, Kent on 12th May this year. We had already decided on Mountfield and after a demonstration from their knowledgeable member of staff decided to buy there and then. We were a little concerned that we had to buy the showroom model and not a new one in the box, but the sales person advised that this was standard policy and "we build them here".
All was fine and it had one full use on both our front and back lawns. We were so happy we recommended the product & Stuart Daws to a neighbour who came to our home and liked it too.
On its second use my wife told me that a washer had fallen out of the underside of the mower. On examination it was apparent that the rear roller had detached itself from the machine completely. It was also clear that the roller was misshapen and its interconnecting webbing was incorrectly assembled.
I contacted the shop and was advised to bring it in. I was told their technicians would find out exactly what had gone wrong and it would be resolved.
After a week I had not heard from the Company and on telephoning I was told that they were very busy but a part had been ordered and would take a few days. Almost another week went by without contact during which time of course our lawns were at peak growing rate and we had no lawnmower. I called again and for the next few days received a litany of excuses. I was told again that they were busy, that they hadn't contacted me because they had logged my name/number incorrectly, that parts were being delayed due to Covid and might take up to 8 weeks. I was then very worryingly told that "IT MAY NOT BE ACCEPTED AS A WARRANTY ISSUE" even though it had only been used once, for 2 hours at a cost of £349.00. I was even asked if the lawnmower had been dragged over steps in our garden. We have no steps and alarm bells were beginning to loudly ring. I called again and suggested that as the shop builds the mowers before sale, they use the parts from another new mower in the store. The staff member (who was very polite and doing his best) told me that it was not his decision but would come back to me. On contacting me he said that they would have been prepared to take parts from another machine but they didn't have any in stock - which quite frankly I didn't believe.
At this point I advised him I was exercising my consumer rights and wanted my money back.
I returned to the store and the reception staff called over the person who was authorised to make a refund. There was no acknowledgement from him of the difficulties I had experienced, no offer to make good by selling me another machine and above all, no simple apology. He was surly, disinterested and rude. It is quite obvious that having sold me a machine that was either faulty at manufacture or had been assembled incorrectly by store staff, there was no after sales service and the shop was unable or unwilling to resolve a problem of their own making. Instead choosing to blame the customer. I have since had to buy an identical machine from another retailer. However because of the delay caused by Stuart Daws' failures, the prices had gone up and I ended up paying more elsewhere. I feel very let down by this company, they have caused me stress, wasted time and additional costs and cannot recommend them. Indeed I have warned my friend about them too. Avoid.

Not many full service gardening and woodland specialists in and around Canterbury (can count on half a hand...) But even so, this is a great store, staff are friendly and super knowledgeable, pricing is what it is... But you get great service and a good set up of beginners to full time professional gear available, with a fully functioning repair shop too... I've bought and repaired there - always a pleasure.
